Mora Residential Building

by ADNBA

limestone • Volume 14

This residential building was designed for a historic neighbourhood in central Bucharest, where architecture from the early 20th century and interwar period is mainly used in the municipality.

The detailing of the façade, like corner details and vertical and horizontal edges, are all designed to show that it is just a stone façade, a light coat, and not a massive structural setup. Limestone was chosen to give the building a monolithic but luminous look in pale limestone that adds texture to the solid structure, to soften the buildings stature and facades within its context.

The different scales of windows and loggias cuttings allow for several degrees and types of relations between the interior space and the street, or the near surroundings.
